Wick Theatre Company

present

Shakespeare's Richard III

directed by Bob Ryder

Lovers of Shakespeare have a treat in store with Wick's innovative staging of Richard III, which will be performed entirely in the round, allowing the audience to get really close to the action.

The play is dominated by Richard the crooked Duke of Gloucester, who has a mind as twisted as his body.  No-one around him is safe as he murders his way to becoming king, polishing off enemies, relations, his wife and many of his supporters....a story which is, to quote actor Sir Ian McKellen, exciting, funny, sexy and violent.

When it comes to Shakespeare, the hallmark of Bob Ryder's direction is always a sharp, witty and inventive style - so come expecting a few surprises!

Southwick Opera presents

 HMS  PINAFORE

by Gilbert & Sullivan

(adapted by Simon Gray & James Clarke)

Director & Conductor

Simon Gray

Join Southwick Opera aboard the passenger liner SS PINAFORE and enjoy a delightful romp through this G 7 S classic updated to the 1950s.

Gilbert & Sullivan wrote HMS PINAFORE in 1878 to make fun of incompetence in high places...130 years later, it's still with us and we can still laugh at it - it is one of the most enduring and entertaining shows in the G & S canon.

The plot, in brief:  aboard the SS Pinafore a hilarious tale of love, hypocrisy and mistaken identities unravels when the captain's lovely daughter Josephine falls in love with one of the crew.  However, the first Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Joseph Porter, steps aboard to claim Josephine's hand for himself... or does he?

MUSIC THEATRE 2000

present one of the world’s best loved operas

LA BOHEME

by Puccini.

October 8th, 10th & 11th at 7.30pm

Rodolfo is a writer and his flatmate Marcello a painter; both are struggling to make a mark in Paris’ competitive art world. Fortunately, another mate strikes lucky on Christmas Eve and they have enough cash for a night on the town.  Mimi from next door asks for a light for her candle and then suffers a violent coughing fit and faints. Rodolfo immediately falls for her and she joins the friends’ night out. Marcello has an explosive on-off affair with the escort Musetta, while Rodolfo’s jealousy also scuppers his relationship with Mimi. Eventually Mimi returns to Rodolfo’s apartment; she’s very sick by now, and there are so many things she wants to say to him. Musetta sells her earrings to buy her medicine. But it’s too late now.

The cast for MT2000’s production includes KAREN ORCHIN as Mimi, YVONNE PATRICK as Musetta, TONY ADAMS as Rodolfo, DARREN JONES as Marcello, CHRISTOPHER PARKE as Colline, WILLIAM REVELS as Schaunard and DAVID ASHMAN as Benoit & Alcindoro. The opera is sung in Italian and will be accompanied by a small chamber orchestra.

Tickets are £15.00 & £16.00
