Daphne du Maurier's

haunting tale

DON'T LOOK NOW

directed by Bob Ryder

29 Sept - 2 Oct at 7.45p.m.

Among the wonders of Venice, a couple are on a short holiday.  But sinister things can happen, even in the most romantic of settings.  The narrow streets and glimmering canals are menacing at night, when it's all too easy to miss your way in the shadows and mist.

The couple are still in mourning for the recent death of their young daughter.  At a cafe, apparently by chance, they meet two unnerving sisters, with claims of psychic visions of the dead girl.

Suspicion of a supernatural present grows stronger, as the visions become more alarming.  Soon we catch glimpses of danger and unknown fears.

Nell Leyshon's adaptation brings Daphne du Maurier's classic story to the stage with a haunting power.  It is Wick's entry for the Brighton & Hove Arts Council 2010 Drama Awards.

Tickets cost £9.00/£9.50 and are available from The Barn Box Office on 01273 597094,

COLD COMFORT FARM

by Paul Doust

Directed by Tony Bright

13 - 16 October

Evenings:  7.30pm

Matinee (16th):  2.30pm

Our orphaned heroine, Flora Poste, desends on her only living relatives - the Starkadders, who scratch a living at Cold Comfort Farm, ruled by their tyrannical Great-Aunt Ada Doom, who once "saw something narsty in the woodshed...." and won't ever let anyone forget it.

The farm is bleak, chaotic and dirty - but Flora, 'expensively, athletically and lengthily educated', strides into the melee, determind as always to restore order, arrange marriages and cast some light into their darkness.  This she does, to great comic effect.

Tickets cost £9.00/£10.00 and are available from The Barn Box Office on 01273 597094,

or on-line at www.southwickplayers.org.uk
